Liz grew up with her mom, dad, sister, and brother. Her first piece of fame came to her when a poem she wrote, called “Jinx’s Shop” was published in the local paper when she was nine. Starting when Liz was about eight years old, she loved writing poetry, and decided to become a poet when she grew up. They have sold over five million copies around the world. The “Emily Windsnap” books have been translated into 25 languages, and have appeared on the New York Times bestsellers list. She likes to look at the beach and just think about where Emily Windsnap may want to go next. This is what partly inspires her to write about mermaids. She lives near the sea and has always loved the ocean. After she took a year off so that she could travel all over Europe in a camper van, she lives in Cornwall. She has worked as a journalist and a teacher (teaching Media Studies and English and has run some Creative Writing Courses), and has her MA in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University. She grew up in Southport, located in the North West of England and has lived in both Cheshire and Manchester. Author Liz Kessler went to Loughborough University and studied English.
